Welcome to Aeropix

If you like photos of old and historic aircraft that still fly, you will enjoy the shots here.

They are mainly a selection of photos taken during the 1960’s and 1970’s by
W. Owen Dinsdale at the Shuttleworth Collection, and IWM Duxford when the aircraft preservation movement was in its infancy. These are of times, aircraft and people many of whom are no longer with us. While not perfect by any manner, they are a snapshot of a time when what we know as “Historic Aviation” was more "Aviation" than "Historic" Compare the background scenes to today, as they seem quaint and sometimes derelict compared to the way we see Old Warden and Duxford  today. Just enjoy the fashions, styles and cars of the time! Some shots taken at Farnborough are also included. Click this link to start looking at his pictures.

These photos are from slide film. They have suffered from the effects of time, storage and the depredations of mould and wildlife so are not perfect. The technologies of the times (film speed, grain and camera capabilities) were not comparable to what can be achieved today with fully automated auto exposure digital cameras of all types so just accept the pictures for what they are, record of a time when life was a lot simpler and a lot of pictures were still taken in Black & White!

The slides were scanned using Vuescan software on a Nikon Coolscan LS5000 with basic tidying up in Adobe Photoshop.

Pictures I have taken more recently will be added here as and when possible.
